March 01:
Season Opener (Social)

Following tradition, we will ride to Duarte’s in Pescadero! Remember folks, it’s not Do R Tays, it’s DO ARTS. Come ride with us and fight about it in person. Maybe have some artichoke soup.

This is a Social ride, so not an official ride for points. Come anyway, but if you miss this one, you’re still in the running for Perfect Score!

March 08:
International Women’s Day/Twain Harte

Ride 1

Celebrate International Women’s Day with a ride to Twain Harte, because…because the Road Captain said so - and at the SFMC, the Road Captain is always right!

March 29:
Big Sur

Ride 2

Highway 1 is finally open so let’s take advantage of the beauty of the PCH with a spin down to Big Sur.

April 05:
Easter Sunrise Ride to Mount Tam & Clubhouse Breakfast

Ride 3

A new tradition for the SFMC is to host an old tradition of the Bay Area motorcycling community. Riders have been gathering at the top of Mount Tamalpais for years. Decades in fact. You could even say, for generations.

In order to catch the magic of the break of dawn, we’ll be leaving the clubhouse at O-dark-thirty. Quit yer bitchin and put on some layers, it really is glorious to behold and you want to be a part of it. We’ll have coffee and nibbles at the peak, then host a proper breakfast at the clubhouse after.

Stay tuned for more details and precise KSU time.

April 19:
Gold Rush - Mariposa

Ride 4

There’s gold in them thar hills! And the only way to get there is on amazing roads. Let’s go the long way, and once we get there, we can check out the California State Mining and Mineral Museum, so even if you don’t find a gold nugget, you will come away with a nugget of information. And probably a good lunch.

May 02-03: Option 1 of 2
Beachside Moto Club

Ride 5.1

In May, members can gain points by attending one of two different ride options (NO! You do NOT get extra credit for attending both rides. But you do get bragging rights!)

Today, we’ll meet up with our friend Francofactory and support the Beachside Moto Club “Where group rides happen with diversity, inclusivity and enthusiasm”. Great news: It’s in SoCal, so there will be lots of miles ridden and our Road Captain will have a great route mapped out for us.

May 10:
Russian North - Fort Ross

Ride 6

We go North today, to Fort Ross. And maybe Kamchatka. You never know! Our Russian Road Comrade likes to ride, and you will be sorry if you miss this one. Fort Ross is a historic Russian-American settlement on a stretch of majestic coastline 2-3 hours north of San Francisco. The only way to get there are epic roads that rank among most members’ favorites. Get ready for a full day in the saddle to this locally significant destination, with many equally thrilling return route options.

May 30-31: Option 2 of 2
PMC Greenhorn

Ride 5.2

If you haven’t heard of the Pasadena Motorcycle Club’s Greenhorn ride, then I’m sorry I missed your birthday yesterday. Now that you’re alive though, you can start living and go on this ride!

The PMC was founded in 1907, so we’ve been riding together for one hundred and nineteen years! Hell, this is the 80th time they’ve put on this ride, and it’s so awesome it takes up TWO whole days! Each Greenhorn is an odyssey of roads both beloved and obscure, but the best part is that it’s a surprise; you know where and when to depart, but you pick up the route at registration. This adds an element of adventure and discovery that is as refreshing as it is fulfilling. The committee that puts it together is convened two years prior to the ride, and it shows. If you do one ride this year, come with us and experience the experience for yourself and hey, if you ride down there with us, it’s like two rides!

Stay tuned for more info, or check the PMC Greenhorn page as we get closer to launch.

June 13:
Virginia City

Ride 7

Feeling lucky? Then on this lucky 13th day of June, we’re going to meet ol’ Ben Cartwright and his sons Adam, Hoss, and Little Joe on our way to Virginia City. It will be a veritable Bonanza of cool roads, warm fellowship, and hot weather, as we rustle up a good time on our steeds of steel while herding traffic through mountain passes with views good enough for television. Yee Haw!!

June 21:
Clear Prop! - Pacific Coast Air Museum

Ride 8

The early days of motorcycles and aviation share some key figures, among them, former motorcycle racer and early aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss (we are very proud of the 1906/7 Curtiss Twin on display in our clubhouse), and daredevil pilot and SFMC member Lincoln Beachey (who can be seen in the photo of the very first SFMC club ride).

Today we honor the kindred spirit connection between motorcycles and airplanes with a trip to the Pacific Coast Air Museum.

July 18:
OMC Three Bridge Run

The Oakland Motorcycle Club was founded in 1907 and has a long history of fellowship with the SFMC. Today we join our East Bay Brethren for their annual Three Bridge Run. Traditionally a Poker Run, this format offers both great riding time and opportunities to socialize at each stop, while you draw a card to make a hand of poker. At the end of the ride, there are prizes for High Hand, Low Hand, and more, plus a raffle, BBQ, and lots of good people. This is a great way to support TWO clubs, while crossing THREE bridges!

July 12
Big Basin Highway

Ride 9

Big Basin Redwoods State Park, the oldest in the California State Park system, was decimated by the CZU complex fires in August 2020. Risen from the ashes, it has been reborn, and with its rebirth came repaved roads, smooth and delightful. Come celebrate the reemergence of this treasure, deep in the Santa Cruz redwoods, while marveling at the glory of the big trees and the tight twisties to get there as once again, the only way in and out of these parts are on some of our members’ favorite sections of tarmac.

August 01:
SJD The Dam Run

Ride 10

Now that you are a Poker Star, go all in with the San Jose Dons and try your luck on their Dam Run. This annual event features the best of the South Bay back roads and ends up at the San Jose Dons’ clubhouse for a BBQ and a heaping side of hospitality. This ride is always a good time, so come early and come hungry!

August 12:
Blind Run

Ride 12

Where are we going? Do I need a passport? Will I need time off work? Maybe. Only the Road Captain knows. He’ll tell you what you need to know, when you need to know. Until then , all you need to know is that there are exactly two rules:
1) Follow the Road Captain.
2) See rule #1.

Enjoy your ride.

August 29-30: Option 1 of 2, Take II
Fellowship Campout - New Cuyama

Ride 13.1

Camping is in the air! This weekend you have one of two options to win your points while you pitch your tent!

We had a great time last year at the first annual Fellowship Campout with the San Jose Dons and the Pasadena Motorcycle Club. Maybe this year the OMC will attend? Maybe you will too?

Check back here for more info when we get closer to the date.

September 12-13: Option 2 of 2, Take II
AMA D36 Hey Day - Manchester KOA

Ride 13.2

Here’s a way to support the AMA District 36, get some sweet, sweet ride points, and sleep outside. The D36 Hey Day is a family friendly event that as old as the dirt that they sanction hare scrambles on. Details are skinny as of yet, so stay tuned for more, but reserve yourself a spot at the KOA now, if you know what’s good for you!

September 24:
Autumn Equinox Ride - Redwood City

Ride 14

Coming at you this Thursday, Thursday, THURSDAY!
That’s right folks it’s the SFMC Autumn Equinox Dinner Ride! Tonight, we skip the business meeting in service of steam tables filled with comfort food as we gather at Harry’s Hofbrau in Redwood City!! There’s something for everyone, and a special dinner for kids and seniors, so you youngsters out there should bring your old folks to this one.

We’ll update this post with KSU when we figure it out.

October 04:
All Aboard! - Monterey & Salinas Valley Railroad Museum

Ride 15

For our penultimate ride of the season, we take our chrome horses to admire the iron horses on display at the Monterey & Salinas Valley Railroad Museum. The Bay Area has a rich railroad history so today we’ll spend a little time learning and appreciating a bygone era and the behemoths of the early industrial age.

October 31:
Halloween Captain’s Run - Mill Valley

Ride 16

This is the last ride of the season, so fittingly, after following the Road Captain all season, he’s placed the Captain’s Run here at the end. Like the Blind Run, the rules are simple: Follow the Road Captain. This one doesn’t have to be a mystery like the Blind Run, but it certainly can be. And that wouldn’t be wrong because (say it with me) The Road Captain is always right!

It’s Halloween, so bring some candy and dress up if you dare.
